The Hoka Mafate is one of Hoka's most stable and technologically advanced trail shoes. The model is available in several sub-variants to suit different running styles. The Mafate Speed 4 offers the most dynamics, a lighter construction and an aggressive outsole ideal for faster trail tempos. The Mafate 3 / Mafate Origins is a sturdier, more stable option aimed at long technical runs, ultra-trails and terrains where maximum foot protection is required. All models use a breathable, durable upper and a soft foam midsole that does an excellent job of absorbing impact even on hard mountain ground.
They work best on rocks, roots, mud, mountain gravel and other technical surfaces where their aggressive traction and stable platform really come into their own. With normal trail use, you can expect a lifespan of around 600-900 miles, depending on how heavy the terrain you're running. Upper
Textile: The textile upper of the sneakers is lightweight, breathable and comfortable, ideal for everyday wear and sports. It ensures air circulation, keeps feet fresh and adapts to their shape. Often complemented with synthetic or rubber details for durability and support.
Syntetika: The synthetic upper is made of synthetic materials that are lightweight, durable and easy to clean. It provides good protection against moisture and at the same time allows for a comfortable wearing experience.
Midsole
CMEVA (Compression molded EVA): CMEVA (Compression Molded Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) is a type of midsole material commonly used in sports footwear. This material is known for its excellent cushioning properties as it compresses and then returns to its original shape, providing constant support and comfort. CMEVA is lighter and offers better shock absorption compared to conventional EVA
ProFly+: A more modern version of the HOKA midsole, based on the original ProFly technology. It consists of two layers with different densities: the softer upper layer provides comfortable impact cushioning, while the firmer lower layer promotes a more energetic rebound and a smoother transition to the toe. The "+" variant uses a lighter and noticeably more flexible supercritically expanded EVA, which makes the tread softer and the stride more lively than the classic ProFly, but remains stable even at faster tempos.
