The story of the market leader in caps and sportswear began in 1920. A German immigrant and skilled craftsman named Ehrhardt Koch sensed an opportunity to redesign and change the fashion headwear industry. So he borrowed money from his sisters to get it started and started a company in New York called New Era Cap Co. Back then, baseball wasn't in such a heyday. It wasn't until around 1932 that baseball started to gain popularity. Two years later, New Era won a big contract for the Cleveland Indians and the first baseball cap was born. It didn't take long before New Era was the only company making caps for the teams in the MLB's top baseball league, which are still part of every team's uniform today. As the New Era expanded in the early 00's, it became popular all over the world and now there is no one who doesn't have at least one cap with the New York Yankess logo in their home.

Today, New Era has over 500 licenses to use the logo, including NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL teams, and has become the exclusive manufacturer and retailer of team caps.
