New Era 59Fifty produces team-branded, licensed caps for the famous, overseas competitions that everyone has heard of - MLB, NFL and NBA. It all started in 1934 when the first official cap for the MLB team, the Cleveland Indians, was created. Since then, New Erahas battled the biggest competition and now shares the official production for MLB with the Sport Specialties brand. Together they carry the "Diamond Collection" label.
New Era wasn't afraid to do this and experimented with different materials for their caps, such as nylon and wool, until they finally ended up with polyester. All these changes and experiments have strengthened New Era's position in the market. On the 59Fifty caps you'll find embroidered team and competition logos, the high and wide profile of the original fitted cap, and the visor is also designed to be straight, yet you can bend it as you need it.

Products with this label are made mostly of recycled materials mostly made from old waste such as plastic bottles and clothes. These products has smaller environmental footprint thanks to processing more waste materials than virgin materials.

The story of the market leader in caps and sportswear began in 1920. A German immigrant and skilled craftsman named Ehrhardt Koch sensed an opportunity to redesign and change the fashion headwear industry. So he borrowed money from his sisters to get it started and started a company in New York called New Era Cap Co. Back then, baseball wasn't in such a heyday. It wasn't until around 1932 that baseball started to gain popularity. Two years later, New Era won a big contract for the Cleveland Indians and the first baseball cap was born. It didn't take long before New Era was the only company making caps for the teams in the MLB's top baseball league, which are still part of every team's uniform today. It was also during this time that the iconic baseball cap received a revamp and you know it today as the 59FIFTY.
In the 80's, a turning point occurred and New Era caps didn't just distribute caps to sports teams, they started selling them to sports fans as well and the boom in baseball caps and baseball cap wearing was on. Everyone wore them, even those who were not baseball fans or did not live in a city or state where baseball was played. As the New Era expanded in the early 00's, it became popular all over the world and now there is no one who doesn't have at least one cap with the New York Yankess logo in their home.
Today, New Era has over 500 licenses to use the logo, including NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL teams, and has become the exclusive manufacturer and retailer of team caps. At Footshop, you'll find mostly Major League Baseball team caps and apparel , but also Chicago Bulls or Los Angeles Dodgers team-themed apparel and caps.
