Upper
Waterproof Tech: An umbrella term for technologies that make footwear completely impermeable to water while maintaining the material's ability to "breathe". The basis is usually a microporous membrane (e.g. Gore-Tex® or eVent®), which has openings smaller than a drop of water but larger than a molecule of water vapour. As a result, water from outside cannot penetrate in, while sweat and moisture can escape out. These technologies often also include taped seams and a water-repellent treatment on the upper (DWR), ensuring that feet stay dry and warm even when moving for long periods in rain, snow or wet terrain.
