Karhu is a legendary sports brand that was established in 1916 in Finland. Karhu (meaning bear in Finnish) is a combination of highly sophisticated silhouettes and colorways inspired by Finnish nature.
This brand was officialy introduced to the public at the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games when Finish athletes (aka "Flying Finns) took five gold medals on the track wearing Karhu spikes.
A few decades later, Karhu sold the three stripes trademark it had been using to a then little known brand called adidas for the equivalent of 1600€ and two bottles of whiskey.
Sneakers from Karhu are based on the "Fulcrum Technology" which has been developed in cooperation with the University of Jyväskylä in the 1980s.
Nowadays, the brand has broaden their product range and has entered the world of streetwear fashion.
